BREAKING: Florida State-Duke ACC Tournament quarterfinal cancelled

FSU advances to ACC semifinals and will face winner of North Carolina-Virginia Tech quarterfinal.

NCAA Basketball: Florida State at Duke Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday morning, it was announced that Florida State’s ACC Tournament quarterfinal game versus Duke has been cancelled. Duke had a positive COVID-19 test within their program emerge this morning, which led to subsequent quarantining, and contact tracing.

Due to the cancellation, Florida State will move onto the ACC Tournament Semifinals after their third bye. FSU will face the winner of the Virginia Tech-North Carolina quarterfinal tonight.

Florida State is 1-1 against the Tar Heels this season, while they haven’t played the Hokies yet. The Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina game will now tip off at 8:30 p.m. tonight.

The ACC tournament will carry on despite the positive test, as teams were in different locker rooms and in minimal contact. It’s also been reported that the positive Duke test came from a walk-on player who did not play in last night’s contest versus Louisville.

Florida State’s regular season game with Duke, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 2nd, was also cancelled this season.
