Early Signing Day, as it's so accurately known, is the first day that that year’s senior class of high school student-athletes can sign letters of intent to attend their future university.
For just the second time in four years, Florida State isn’t having to deal with a quick turnaround of a new coach securing commitments — instead, it’s had to deal with selling the vision of being part of rebuilding a program via phone calls and computer screens.
247Sports’ Composite Rankings currently have the Seminoles at No. 33 in the nation, Rivals at No. 44. Last year, Florida State finished with the No. 22 class in 247’s rankings.
Today FSU is expected to sign all but one of its commits — offensive lineman Kimo Makaneole, who is waiting to send in his papers. There aren’t any surprises expected today, with the exception of four-star defensive end George Wilson’s decision. Wilson, who decommitted from South Carolina following the firing of Will Muschamp, is thought to be choosing between the Auburn Tigers and Florida State, with FSU considered the slight favorite.
Other recruits that FSU has its eye on — defensive tackle Twyone Malone and wide receiver Destyn Hill among them — have delayed their decision to either later in the week or in 2021.
Keep up with all of today’s action below, where we’ll be updating our tracker as each stack of papers is faxed (well, more likely emailed) into Tallahassee.
