Four-star wide receiver Malik McClain signs with FSU

FSU benefits from the rare recommit.

IMG wide receiver Malik McClain was a long-time Florida State commitment and about a week before he decommitted, he told FSU he was set to sign and enroll early, before surprisingly leaving the fold. Now he’s back in, and he announced Friday afternoon he’ll indeed be signing with the Seminoles after all, as he picked up the FSU hat on his instagram live.

The 4-star talent walks on campus and is arguably the most talented receiver on FSU’s roster. His combination of size (6’5 195 pounds), speed, and athleticism is reminiscent of former FSU receivers Tamorrion Terry, who is off to the NFL Draft and former NFL wideout Rodney Smith.

Mike Norvell and Ron Dugans have made improving the wide receiver room a focus, and with Joshua Burrell and now McClain back in the fold, the staff is on its way to achieving that goal.

When McClain decommitted, all signs pointed to Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin with former FSU commitment Luke Altmyer tweeting cryptically before Malik McClain announced his decommitment:

We don’t know what caused Malik McClain to falter in his commitment to Florida State, but it doesn’t matter now. He’s a Seminole: signed, sealed, and delivered. And he should arrive in Tallahassee shortly with a chance to make a very early impact for FSU.
