Florida State Seminoles football sent out plenty of offers yesterday, including to 2022 Louisiana prospect Quency Wiggins. a 6’7 265-pound strongside defensive end whoso far has offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Indiana, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas Tech, USC, and Virginia Tech, among others.

Football

FSU announced the Garnet & Gold 4 Miler, running/walking event that’ll be held on April 11, 2021 and “will be a Seminoles-themed celebration featuring former Florida State football players and celebrities, cheerleaders, and a post-race celebration. The event will start on Langford Green outside of the stadium and feature a four-mile tour of Florida State’s campus before “Finishing on the 50” inside of Doak.”

Basketball

No. 16 Florida State (10-2, 6-1 ACC) continued its run of dominance with a 81-59 win over the Miami Hurricanes (6-9, 2-8 ACC). It was the Seminoles’ sixth straight win over the Canes and FSU’s third straight double-digit win.

From head coach Leonard Hamilton: We got more deflections, we got stops, and we were able to get out more in transition. But that just shows those are areas of our game where we gotta continue to keep working on it and improving.”

FSU’s game vs. Pitt has been rescheduled to Feb. 6 after being postponed earlier this month.

As for the Florida State women, they take on Wake Forest tonight in Winston-Salem, with the game set to air on ACC Network Extra.

Baseball

Senior Sydney Sherrill was named to the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List. According to FSU Sports Info, she currently ranks in a tie for first all-time in doubles at Florida State with 51, has a career batting average of .380, with 32 home runs and 134 RBIs.

The No. 15 men’s and No. 21 women’s Florida State swimming teams defeated the University of North Florida and the University of Tampa on Wednesday afternoon at the Morcom Aquatics Center, with the men finishing the season undefeated for the first time since 1997.

Michael Benarde, a Florida State University graduate student, will appear on ABC’s Shark Tank next week pitching his product the “NightCap, a“drink-spiking prevention scrunchy,” that fits over glasses to prevent cocktails from being spiked. The idea was brought to life as a result of FSU’s Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship.

Christian Hubicki, an FSU enginerring professor, has received a grant to try and teach robots the concept of risk — which is totally not terrifying at all.
