Derek Williams Jr. is a 6’2 185 pound safety from New Iberia, LA.
The Class of 2023 prospect attends Westgate High School and has a 90 rating (4-star) from 247 Sports. That recruiting service considers him the 62nd best player in his class (4th best safety and 2nd best player in Louisiana).
Williams Jr. has offers from the Arkansas Razorbacks, Colorado Buffaloes, LSU Tigers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Texas A&M Aggies, and Virginia Cavaliers. Pretty decent list for a kid who just turned 16 earlier this week.
Early Friday evening, he was offered by area recruiter David “YAC” Johnson and the Florida State Seminoles football program:

Florida State has landed players from Louisiana each of the last two classes, and the staff is on multiple talented prospects in the Class of 2022, as well. And it’s wise to get involved early in this top 2023 prospect.
