Noles News: Florida State finding confidence following win

Turning attention toward North Carolina

With the weight of a winless season lifted off their shoulders, the Florida State Seminoles sound to be getting their legs back underneath them. At practice on Tuesday, the team churned out a strong effort especially at the skill position groups and it continued after practice when speaking with the media.

Wide receiver Keyshawn Helton and tight end Camren McDonald said the attitude around the facility has been up and it is improving the confidence in their own play.

Head coach Mike Norvell echoed that sentiment but says there are certainly some mistakes that need to be cleaned up.

The question becomes was this a one-week close victory against a similar team or the start of that climb Norvell preaches? Our Triple Option podcast team dove into the film to get you that answer.

You don’t have to watch much film to see the elite level that Derwin James and his fellow Charger Asante Samuel Jr. have played at this season. The two, along with their neighbor Rams CB Jalen Ramsey, have been the most impressive Noles in the Pros this year.

Basketball

Speaking of impressive former Seminoles, the hoops crew is using the preseason to pop all over the NBA.

Soccer

Back on campus, the most impressive team in Tallahassee remains the No. 1 ranked soccer team. A new week and another award for that incredibly talented squad.

On Thursday, they’ll be playing in pink for breast cancer awareness month and to raise money for the Tallahassee Memorial Walker Breast Program. That game is a 7 p.m. start.

Volleyball

Not to be outdone by the soccer team, the FSU volleyball team is getting recognized as well with Khori Louis collecting freshman honors.

They’re back in action on Wednesday with a rivalry game against Miami.

Golf

Also not to be out done, the golf team is already a champion early in their 2021-22 season.

Meanwhile, Brooksy will have a chance to bury the hatchet with his (former?) rival Bryson Dechambeau over Thanksgiving dinner as the two will face off in the next rendition of The Match on TNT.
