Earlier this week, the Florida State Seminoles football staff offered a scholarship to Devaughn Mortimer. Today, the speedy wide receiver from south Florida accepted the offer and became the newest member of FSU’s 2022 class.

Mortimer is currently ranked as a composite 3-star and the 76th best wide receiver in the nation. He is listed at 5’11, 160 pounds and is a blur on the football field. He plays for Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL, which is also the home of fellow FSU commitment, 4-star defensive end Nyjalik Kelly.
In Dillard’s COVID shortened season, Mortimer pulled in 24 passes for over 300 yards in six games. He was a threat from multiple positions as he recorded touchdowns via reception, punt return, and kickoff return. Mortimer also runs track, where last year he recorded a 10.95 in the 100 meters.
There’s been some thought that Mortimer’s offer was to help strengthen Kelly’s commitment. But Mortimer is no slouch, as many expect him to rise in the rankings and battle for the title of top slot receiver in Florida. Mortimer was a member of the Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald’s All-Broward 8A-6A first team.
