Athlete Rodney Hill commits to Florida State

Seminoles complete the flip.

Rodney Hill

Florida State Seminoles football has received a commitment from class of 2022 Bulloch Academy athlete Rodney Hill before Saturday’s spring game. Listed at 6’0 and 186 lbs., Hill is ranked as a three-star by the 247Sports Composite. He’s also ranked as a top-50 athlete in the country and a top-50 player from the state of Georgia.

Hill originally committed to the Virginia Cavaliers on February 24th, about two weeks after he listed a top ten that didn’t include the ’Noles.

But that all changed when Hill picked up what was apparently a dream offer from Florida State in late March.

According to 247Sports, the offer had a huge impact on Hill’s family, and caused him to decommit from Virginia in early April:

This news came on the heels of landing an offer from Florida State. An offer that he said made his grandmother go “crazy.”

“Oh she went crazy,” Hill said of when he told his grandma the news. “She went absolutely crazy. She always talked about it when I was growing up that I was going to be there one day and now it’s just happening. When I got it I was ‘wow I’m living the dream.’”

Hill also boasts offers from Kentucky, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, UCF, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Michigan State, and Wisconsin, among others.

Virginia was recruiting Hill as an H-back but he is an extremely versatile athlete. For Bulloch Academy Hill lines up at running back, receiver, and safety, for which one of his offers wanted him to play. He also plays basketball and participates in track and field. For FSU, Hill was primarily recruited by running backs coach David Johnson and OC Kenny Dillingham, so staying at tailback is likely the plan.
