Recruiting

Our wise recruiting sage NoleThruandThru took on the topic of the NCAA’s recruiting dead period ending, what it means for Florida State football and which players are set to visit campus next month.

2023 four-star prospect Nyckoles Harbor, a 6’5 220 pound athlete from Lanham with offers from the likes of Arizona State, Boston College, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, and West Virginia received a Florida State offer yesterday.

In the meantime, if you’ve got any questions you wanted to ask our recruiting experts, you can head to our Florida State Seminoles football recruiting thread, where the only thing we charge you is your time.

Here’s a recent convo topic — FSU commit and legacy Lamont Green Jr. racking up five sacks in his high school’s spring jamboree game.

If you want to continue the conversation, get some info, ask questions or just kick it with other readers, we also have a Discord server that you can join here — completely free as well.

If you’d like to read more about Norvell’s camps, the motivation behind them and their impacts, a very, very, very intelligent and fantastic writer who also is a cool guy with lots of friends wrote a piece following last weekend’s camp in Lakeland.

Basketball

Florida State women’s basketball added assistant coach Craig Carter to the Seminoles coaching staff yesterday. Carter comes to Tallahassee after spending the previous five seasons with Wisconsin women’s basketball, including the 2020-21 year as the team’s associate head coach.

Baseball

A rough opening day for Florida State Seminoles baseball vs. Duke, as FSU gets blown out in Mike Martin Jr.’s postseason debut.

Softball

FSU returns to the diamond today to take on LSU in the Super Regionals, with the winner advancing to the College World Series. We’ll have a full preview posting soon and coverage throughout the night.

All Sports

Florida State Seminoles women’s tennis finished ranked seventh in the final poll of 2021 after finishing second in 2020. These are the highest back-to-back final rankings for the Seminoles in program history.

In addition, tennis athletes Nandini Das and Andrea Garcia became the seventh and eighth All-Americans in FSU women’s tennis history and the second pair of All-Americans in the last two seasons after advancing to the NCAA Doubles Championship Quarterfinals Tuesday night.

Florida State beach volleyball’s pairing of Torrey Van Winden and Keara Rutz were named Volleyball Magazine First Team All-American and Alaina Chacon and Maddie Anderson were named Second Team All-Americans.

Florida State University’s College of Music will host its 80th year of music camps this summer, one of the country’s oldest and largest summer music camp programs.

Florida State University’s Faculty Senate honored five members of the university community — Paula Peters Smith, William “Bill” Godfrey Smith, Fred & Doby Flowers and Dorothy Jenkins — with the Torch Award for their contributions to furthering academic excellence at FSU.
