Recruiting

A huge hire on the recruiting front, as Florida State has hired Kenyatta Watson Sr. as it’s Director of Player Relations. Watson, a former Boston College receiver who played in the NFL, has deep ties to Georgia that should pay dividends on the trail. (If his name seems familiar, his son Kenyatta Watson II was a one-time FSU commit.)

A record number of FSU athletes made it on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Florida State University Provost Sally McRorie has announced Jing Wang as the new dean of the College of Nursing. She will start the role Aug. 16, 2021.

After taking a year off, Opening Nights at Florida State will be presenting 29 live performances this fall. Among others, the lineup features highly acclaimed artists Dance Theatre of Harlem (Sept. 30), Patti LaBelle (Nov. 11), The King’s Singers (Feb. 9), Itzhak Perlman (March 2) and Jay Leno (March 10). For the first time, Opening Nights will present Pulitzer Prize-winning author Colson Whitehead on Feb. 10.
