It wasn’t a commitment announcement, but the Florida State Seminoles football program remains in the mix on the recruiting front, as blue-chip Class of 2022 Greer (SC) wide receiver Jaleel Skinner included Florida State in his final five list, along with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Miami (FL) Hurricanes, and Texas Longhorns. One name conspicuously absent from the list is the Florida Gators:

Skinner, who’s being recruited as a tight end by some schools because of his size (6’5 210) has a 97 rating (4-star) from the 247 Sports Composite List. The sites (247, Rivals, and ESPN) consider him the 78th best player in America (top “TE” and 3rd best player in South Carolina).
FSU offered the intriguing playmaking prospect almost a year ago, and it obviously left an impact:
WOW‼️ I’m truly honored to say that I’ve received an offer from THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA STATE #GoNoles @Coach_Tokarz @Coach_Norvell @r81dugans @KennyDillingham @ThomsenChris pic.twitter.com/jgZ198yN6b

I don’t consider the Canes a realistic choice, but all the others make sense, as Alabama and Clemson are in the College Football Playoff seemingly every year, while the Longhorns are now a hot choice with Steve Sarkisian (former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator) in charge.
