No. 15 Florida State softball (11-4) faces a tough task with no. 2 Arizona (13-1) coming to Tallahassee this weekend. It will be the Seminoles’ second straight top-10 test, as they split their two-game series with rival UF last weekend. FSU has defended home territory well this year, as they’re 9-1 at JoAnne Graf Field.
Through 15 games, Florida State is hitting .319 and has an slugging percentage of .362. Senior Elizabeth Mason has led the way for the ‘Noles. Mason has posted a .319 average, slugged four homers, and has six stolen bases. She leads the team in average, SLG%, and extra base hits.
FSU has had a strong start to the season in the circle. FSU has a 2.83 ERA and .230 batting average against. Caylan Arnold, Kathryn Sandercock, and Danielle Watson all have four+ starts. Arnold leads the way with a 1.98 ERA and a .152 average against.
Arizona is 10th in the country with a .368 batting average and fifth with two homers per game. They also have the nation’s fourth best ERA at 0.93.
