Three-star defensive tackle Emanuel Rogers commits to FSU

Coach Jaffey-JBHS

Florida State continues its hot recruiting streak since the official start of summer. Three-star defensive tackle Emanuel Rogers has committed to FSU. The 6’6 300lb defensive tackle from Jensen Beach High School in Jensen Beach, Florida chose FSU over offers from Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn.

Odell Haggins was the main reason he chose FSU.

I would like to announce that I will continue my academic and football career at Florida State.

I love the coaches there. They make me feel like I’m at home. Especially coach Odell Haggins. He’s been there for 25-plus years and I know when I get there he’s not going to leave and I’m going to have some other coach. I know he’s going to make me grow as a man and help me through life.

Rogers is on the cusp of four-star status ranking 357th nationally, 33rd at his position, and 56th within the state of Florida in 247’s National Composite Rankings. In 247’s site rankings he’s graded a four-star recruit, 284th nationally.

Rogers started both ways for Jensen Beach in 2018 despite not playing football until well...2018. His ceiling is sky-high. He’s only played one year of football so as expected he’s a very raw recruit but the clay is there. Someone his size shouldn’t be that quick off the ball. He looks athletic enough to eventually maintain a low pad-level at the position. Something defensive tackles with his frame often struggle with.

Of course he could always follow the path of another Seminole three-star defensive tackle that eventually became a first-round pick at offensive tackle & center.

FSU’s 2020 recruiting class now ranks 13th with 16 commitments; nine of which are blue-chip recruits.
