After cutting his list down to five in August; four-star defensive end Shambre Jackson pulled the trigger for the Florida State Seminoles today. He was initially thought to see the process out and take all five official visits, but with the NCAA extending the Dead Period and no official visits on deck there was nothing left to see; when you know you know:
Jackson has long been considered the top defensive end on FSU’s board and it was imperative the Seminole staff brought him into the fold. He chose FSU over offers from the Texas A&M Aggies, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, and Auburn Tigers (among many more).
The 6’4 252 pound defensive lineman from Boone HS in Orlando, Florida is a four-star prospect ranking 223rd nationally, 17th at his position, and 31st within the state of Florida in 247’s Composite Rankings.
Jackson is an intriguing prospect because he’s been told by FSU’s staff that he’s being recruited as both a defensive tackle and a defensive end. It adds up because he models his game after Aaron Donald and with his power, get-off, and future positional prospects stylistically it is an apt comparison.
Jackson is the third defensive lineman to join FSU’s 2021 recruiting class joining Joshua Farmer and Byron Turner, Jr. in what is shaping up to be a solid defensive line class.
FSU’s overall class remains 18th overall and now features six blue-chip recruits.

4-Star DE Commits to FSU
4-Star DECommits is all I saw at first. Thankful then that it’s good news!

Yeah. After the bad basketball news that's what I thought, too.

Let’s go!

So in the recruiting thread, we’ve been saying for months that we expected this-
I don’t say that to brag, rather I bring it up because I don’t want people to take this for granted now that it’s finally happened. This is a BIG win for the staff- they held off major programs, all of whom had a spot for Jackson and wanted him. He will be in the rotation immediately and has a high upside.
I am hard on Odell but this recruitment is a boost for him, big time! Excellent news on the trail! I am hyped about this one!
By NoleThruandThru on 10.08.20 9:04pm
Do you think that 223 is an appropriate rating for him?
By DoubleNole904 on 10.08.20 9:06pm
I’d have him inside the top 150 for sure
By NoleThruandThru on 10.08.20 9:07pm
Good point, NT&T---sometimes, it's natural/easy to take long-time leans/"silent" commits for granted.
Shambre is a HUGE get for this staff, for all the reasons stated above!

Glad to see Odell win one
I don’t think TN is harsh, but rather brutally honest. It’s the main reason I consider this site "home base" if you will. TN is definitely the first site that I can recall bringing up the truth that Odell is on the back 9. TN will always be that hard truth that I need. But damn, it is nice to see Odell pull a nice recruit.

Big get for Odell
Like much of the fanbase I too have begun to sour on him due to the chronic underperforming of the DL. We simply have too much talent to let every freshman who plays against us look like a Heisman favorite. Hopefully this continues the trend of solid recruiting and improving of the culture.

West Coast Noles out
Southwest Noles in.
Tomahawk Nation/FSU sports news today, playing with my emotions, like a killer whale with a seal.
Go Noles!!

Only 100% committed?
That sucks, I’m going to need at least 110% before I feel confident.
By EricNole on 10.08.20 9:43pm
We determined in a different thread earlier
Anything less than 120% commitment is no good.
By SDFSUFan2001 on 10.09.20 12:56am
Yes but this staff shoots for 1% better every day, so next he’ll be 101% committed, then 102.01%…eventually he’ll be truly committed.
By JustANole on 10.09.20 8:31am
would he be an early enrollee?
By bugzbunny on 10.08.20 11:25pm
Shambre and Jennings HUGE hits
at need positions. Odds are they start day 1
By SanAntonio_NOLE_ on 10.09.20 9:34am
I’d be pretty surprised if Shambre starts right away
He should be in the rotation though.
Jennings though, I agree- I think he’s going to start early in the middle
By NoleThruandThru on 10.09.20 10:55am
Depends on which DE's leave, IMO...

Josh/NT&T...
how would you compare Jackson to Josh Griffis? Are they similar or is Jackson a significant upgrade?
By ColemanNoleman on 10.09.20 12:09pm
Significant upgrade
By NoleThruandThru on 10.09.20 5:26pm
Uhh...yeah.
